I actually really enjoy reading what others write, technical stuff, non-technical stuff, in Chinese, in English.
Many people, when writing articles, like to say
Let me throw out a brick to attract jade (a humble opener: my poor offering to invite better contributions)
But usually what they write is really good
Reading these articles makes my hands itch — I want to write a blog too, but here come the questions
What’s the blog’s theme?
I’ve always had the habit of writing something. In the past it was mostly leisurely essays, more like diary-type articles.
Ever since reading Hao Chen and Jeff Atwood’s technical blogs, I’ve had an urge to write good technical blogs.
Because I’m interested in logic, language, and thinking, but I can’t accurately describe these interests of mine, so I’ll just write them all out.
XKCD’s self-description is
A webcomic of romance, sarcasm, math and language

Hope I can also write articles with such a clear theme, that are both fun and wonderfully unexplainable
What do I have to write about?
As a noob, my most proficient skill — VIM — is actually only average when measured on the internet
At the same time, according to among any three people walking with me, there must be my teacher, this means out of every three people who come to this blog, one is better than me
(Should I put a blog visitor counter? And every multiple of three, alert(“Congratulations”)…
But since everyone knows more than me, I’m not afraid to make a fool of myself.
Fun stuff, brain-bending problems, or random thoughts on life will all be written down by me.
Chinese blog or English blog?
To be honest, I thought about this for a long time.
To the point I almost went mad, even writing the same article in a Chinese version and an English version
After thinking about it, mainly based on a few points:
- My native language is Chinese, so writing in Chinese will be smoother than in English
- The choice of language determines the audience scope, and most foreign audiences don’t understand Chinese subculture
- Personally, I’ll probably know more Chinese friends in the future, this itself is a nice business card
So, I set foot on the blogging road.
The current goal is one post a week, as Jeff said:
Pick whatever schedule works for you. And be realistic. I think starting with one post a month, like Catto, is a fine goal. Try to slowly ramp it up a bit over time as you get into the groove, and you’re on your way.
